AJM Choice and Tendercare collaborate to improve access to specialist car seats for children and young people

AJM Choice has announced a new collaboration with Tendercare focused on improving access to specialist car seat solutions for children and young people with additional and complex needs.

The collaboration will see AJM Choice provide assessment, trials, supply and ongoing support for Tendercare’s specialist car seat range, helping families access clinically appropriate travel solutions through a nationwide service model.

Unlike many areas of mobility provision, specialist car seats are not part of statutory provision. As a result, many families can face challenges identifying, trialling and accessing the right solution as a child’s needs change over time.

By combining Tendercare’s specialist car seat range with AJM Choice’s clinical expertise and nationwide reach, the collaboration aims to make this process more accessible and easier to navigate for families and professionals alike.

Tendercare’s range is designed to support children and young people who require additional positioning and postural support during travel, helping ensure journeys are safer, more comfortable and better suited to individual needs.

Jeremy Garman, Director of Private Pay at AJM Healthcare, said: "Safe travel is something many families can struggle to access when a child’s needs extend beyond what standard car seats can provide.

“This collaboration allows us to support families with assessment, trials and guidance, helping ensure children and young people can access solutions that meet their individual needs and support everyday life."

Amanda Adams, General Manager at Tendercare, added: "Specialist car seats can have a significant impact on both safety and quality of life, but finding and accessing the right solution can often be challenging.

“Working with AJM Choice strengthens access through nationwide assessment and trial support, helping more families and professionals identify the most appropriate options for children and young people with additional needs."

The collaboration reflects a shared commitment to supporting children and young people through clinically informed assessment and access to specialist travel solutions that enable participation in education, family life and everyday activities.
